Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer III to join our team at HNTB. As a key member of our Construction Services Group, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor contractor's work to ensure compliance with contract documents and report findings.
  • Coordinate and monitor inspection efforts to determine that contractor's construction activities are in accordance with design plans, specifications, and contractual requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to inspection staff as needed.
  • Assist in the compliance and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and construction reports.
  • Perform or oversee on-site material testing and review plans and specifications to determine material requirements.
  • Track item quantities and prepare pay estimates, ensuring procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
  • Initiate field changes to drawings and specifications, identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents, and review contractor's daily construction reports for accuracy.
  • Maintain as-constructed drawings and monitor contractors' progress to analyze against progress schedule.
  • Consult with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommend solutions, and assist in the resolution of issues.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work.
  • Perform office engineer work as needed, including preparing documentation for change orders, reviewing change order scope of work, schedule, and cost, and processing and maintaining tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.
  • Mentor and train staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or Doctorate degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or American Concrete Institute (ACI) certification preferred.
  • NICET HCI Level 3, OSHA 30 certified, and agency safety training certified.
  • Trained in digital construction management software such as Constructware, Asite, or similar.
What We Offer

HNTB offers a competitive salary range of $87,000 to $136,000, depending on qualifications and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
