Job Title: Field Project Manager II

Join Johnson Controls, a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings, as a Field Project Manager II. As a key member of our Building Technologies & Solutions business, you will lead large mechanical construction projects in the local area, working remotely and traveling to customer sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead large mechanical construction projects, ensuring timely completion, within budget, and within scope of the contract.
  • Develop project schedules and execute according to plan, evaluating contractual scope of work and impact of client issued bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes.
  • Actively pursue additional work through change orders, performing associated cost estimates, preparing proposals, and negotiating final settlement price and customer acceptance.
  • Manage costs, billings, and collections, maintaining profitability goals and positive cash flow.
  • Effectively communicate project progress, issues, and financial status to management as required, utilizing Microsoft Project to execute and evaluate job progress and risks.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, construction management, or architecture, or an associate's degree with equivalent work-related experience.
  • Minimum of eight years of direct project management experience in the building construction industry, with management experience in projects related to mechanical retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS management, fire management, and security management systems.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification (PMP) within two years of employment in the position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficient in Project Management software and financial accounting systems, with strong personal computer working capabilities in MS Office, Adobe Writer, Visio, and basic Windows environment.
