Job Summary:

The Safety Coordinator at Ohio Gratings, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the organization's safety and training programs, ensuring a safe working environment, and maintaining compliance with safety and health procedures and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and training policies and procedures.
  • Incident Response and Investigation: Act as a first responder to safety incidents and emergencies on the production floor and within the facility.
  • Safety Inspections and Audits: Conduct safety inspections and audits, and accompany agency staff during safety, fire, and physical audits throughout the facility.
  • Training and Development: Conduct safety interactions and training sessions with the production team to reinforce safe work practices.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain files and documentation related to safety inspections and operations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain current knowledge of applicable government compliance regulations, including those from OSHA and the Department of Defense (DOD).
  • Permit Management: Oversee permit processes, issuing special permits for regulated activities such as enclosed space entry, welding operations, and the transport of hazardous materials.
  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct safety inspections.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Associate's degree in EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) or Business Management required; Bachelor's degree preferred. At least five years of safety experience required. Advanced training or certification in safety required. OSHA certification required.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent management and supervisory skills. Extensive knowledge of security protocols and emergency preparedness. Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable OSHA standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with federal, state, and local regulatory agency staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to conduct engaging and effective training sessions. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
