About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Inertial Navigation Systems Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Enterprise Engineering group, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of inertial navigation systems for our spaceflight applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of inertial navigation systems, including IMU/INS hardware and software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate navigation systems with other spacecraft systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in inertial navigation technology and apply this knowledge to improve our systems.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in hardware and/or software development for IMU/INS applications.
  • Experience with IMU design, calibration, characterization, and environment testing.
  • Deep knowledge of estimation theory and the application of this theory to embedded systems.
  • Software development skills in MATLAB or Python.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 15-20+ years of experience in hardware and/or software development for IMU/INS applications.
  • Full product lifecycle experience with IMU sensors.
  • Software development skills in C/C++.
  • Experience with GNSS and/or vision-based aiding sources in blended navigation applications.
  • Experience with space-based applications and the challenges associated with using sensors in these environments.
