Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor - Equipment Specialist to join our team at Federal Signal. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet customer needs by meeting daily job or work schedule
  • Proactively seek opportunities for repair of machinery and facilities
  • Train maintenance staff on equipment operation and maintenance procedures
  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair or replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment
  • Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic and electrical components
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus and replace damaged or broken wires or cables
  • Identify and develop a critical spare parts list, order and maintain critical parts inventory
  • Maintain and complete routine maintenance schedules on equipment
  • Repair broken parts, including setting up and operating metalworking tools
  • Replace electric motor bearings and rewiring motors
  • Understand and follow Lockout/Tag out procedures
  • Assist a certified contractor with planning and installing layout, wiring, conduit, electrical apparatus as needed
  • Assist with continuous process improvement and lean initiatives
  • Perform outdoor facilities upkeep, such as grass mowing, weed trimming, and shrub trimming
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years in plant maintenance or electrical maintenance or equivalent
  • Electrical and troubleshooting experience on a variety of equipment, including Trumpf Laser, Press Brakes, Shears, Saws, and Welders
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret measuring devices, schematics, ladder diagrams, and electric symbols
  • Ability to determine and make equipment adjustments as needed
  • Ability to work on concrete in a variety of positions, including kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and occasionally climbing
  • Ability to pass forklift training and operate effectively and safely
  • Ability to manually move products and materials up to 50 lbs. through occasional heavy physical exertion
  • Ability to work at a reasonable pace to ensure timely completion of tasks, within our quality standards
  • Ability to work overtime as required to meet customer needs
  • Ability to work in a safe manner following safety procedures, including wearing PPE
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with electrical control panels and basic working knowledge of how electrical currents work and how to avoid injury
  • Ability to find root cause, repair, and or recommend corrective action
  • Ability to read complicated instructions and perform computer data entry
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with co-workers and management
Work Environment:

The production floor is a heavy industrial atmosphere, including exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards, grease, oil, heat, humidity, fumes/odors, mists, dust, sparks, occasionally cramped quarters, and occasionally heights.
