We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team at Passaic County Community College as the Director of Facilities Operations and Planning. This position will oversee all Plant Operations, including Buildings and Grounds and Mechanical Services for our multi-campus community college.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities management strategy in alignment with other operational departments, ensuring seamless integration and optimal resource allocation.
- Provide oversight for Facilities Management and Planning functions and related operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Communicate effectively with the campus community on facilities-related issues, fostering a culture of transparency and collaboration.
- Manage capital projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards, and making adjustments as necessary to meet changing priorities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations at all levels, including local, state, and federal laws and standards.
- Contribute to the development of a college-wide Master Plan, aligning facilities management with strategic goals and objectives.
- Supervise maintenance tracking and reporting initiatives, leveraging data to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
- Offer executive guidance to campus administrators, providing expert advice and support to ensure effective facilities management.
- Plan for new constructions and renovations across multiple campuses, balancing budget constraints with the need for modern and functional facilities.
- Collaborate on Plant Operations budgets and resource allocation, ensuring efficient use of resources and optimal return on investment.
- Maintain and enhance services offered across all campuses, prioritizing student and faculty satisfaction and well-being.
- Establish preventative maintenance programs for College property and equipment, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal performance.
- Supervise Plant Operations staff selection, training, and evaluation, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Ensure campus safety and compliance with laws and standards, conducting regular risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as facilities management, engineering, or architecture.
- Minimum five years of supervisory experience in physical plant management, with a proven track record of success.
- At least ten years of management experience in facilities and infrastructure, with expertise in strategic planning and execution.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Licensure as a professional engineer or architect is preferred, but not required.
