Maintenance HVAC Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance HVAC Technician to join our team at Windham Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting all types of HVAC mechanical systems and equipment in our district facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and respond to work orders for repair requests
  • Troubleshoot and repair air handling systems, duct work, thermostat control, pneumatic controls, and automated building systems
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on steam and hot and cold water piping, valves, controls, boilers, and burners
  • Work with chillers, chilled pumps, piping, and controls
  • Perform other related general maintenance duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • High School or vocational school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Must possess and maintain one or more of the following licenses as issued by the State of Connecticut, S-2, D-1 or D-2 or P2
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of all BMS systems
  • Minimum of five (5) years of mechanical and/or structural building maintenance experience
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and perform in the trade from sketches and blueprints
  • Ability to follow oral or written work orders and coordinate work with principals, custodians, and others
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate must be able to lift more than 50 lbs, work at heights greater than five feet, and be available for after-hour emergencies and general maintenance and snowplowing/snow removal.
