Job Title: Associate Director of Special Education

The Rochester City School District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director of Special Education to join our team. As a key member of our Department of Special Education, you will play a critical role in supporting the organization and management of all CSE processes, including referrals, scheduling, and compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supporting, monitoring, and reporting service provisions to ensure students with disabilities receive programs and services in compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance data related to students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with Department of Special Education members to coordinate professional development for TOSAs, building administration, and intervention teams.
  • Assist in training CSE Chairs and Subcommittee Chairs, and develop professional development activities.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to support quality and compliance initiatives.
  • Facilitate CSE recommendations for out-of-district placements and reintegration of students returning from placements.
  • Respond to parent questions and concerns.
  • Use data to monitor referrals, removals, suspensions, provision of IEP services, and instructional outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a Special Education Administrator or Assistant Principal preferred.
  • Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or Speech and Hearing Certification preferred.
  • New York State Certification for School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in major areas of special education, including instruction, programs, compliance, CSE-related activities, parent communication, and professional development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively with all levels of management throughout the district.
