Job Overview

St. Charles School, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to support our team of special education teachers and professionals. The successful candidate will work closely with a certified teacher to assist students with special needs and provide support with classroom activities and clerical functions.

As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will be part of a dynamic team that provides academic, social, emotional, and behavioral services in a therapeutic setting for male and female students in grades K-8. Our curriculum is non-religious, and we cater to students who display severe behaviors in traditional classroom settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation of daily lesson plans under the direction of the teacher
  • Provide one-on-one or group instruction after initial instruction by the teacher
  • Assist students with self-help, motor skills, academic skills, and social skills
  • Adapt materials and equipment to meet specific needs and learning styles of the student
  • Assist in implementing speech, physical, and occupational therapy goals by working with students to meet IEP goals

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working with at-risk and high-risk children is preferred
  • Ability to accept, understand, and relate to students with behavioral, emotional, learning, or physical disabilities
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Willingness to be trained and/or updated in First Aid and CPR
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer systems preferred
