The Opportunity

MassMutual is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its Credit Special Situations and Workout team. As a key member of the Fixed Income Portfolio Management team, you will be responsible for evaluating, analyzing, restructuring, and monitoring distressed and non-performing assets held in the General Investment Account (GIA). Your expertise will be crucial in minimizing losses and maximizing returns.

The Team

The Fixed Income Portfolio Management team is a collaborative and dynamic group that works closely with other teams in Investment Management to manage the GIA. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced professionals who share your passion for investing and your commitment to excellence.

The Impact

Your contributions will have a direct impact on the investment decisions made by the team, and you will be responsible for providing expert advice on workout and special situations. You will work closely with the Head of FIPM and other senior leaders to drive investment decisions and ensure that the GIA portfolio is optimized for returns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze distressed and non-performing assets to identify opportunities for recovery and restructuring
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize returns and minimize losses
  • Work closely with asset managers and other stakeholders to monitor and analyze portfolio performance
  • Provide expert advice on workout and special situations to senior leaders and other team members
  • Collaborate with the Quantitative R&D team to develop and implement credit default predictive models

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant workout experience with full sector and security selection responsibility
  • Deep understanding and strong experience in bankruptcies, workouts, and restructurings of assets and/or companies
  • Well-developed analytical skills reflected in credit and/or cash-flow analysis
  • Strong academic credentials that ideally include a CFA and/or an M.B.A. degree
