Position Overview:
The Plymouth Mill is seeking a skilled and committed Shift Supervisor for the NC5 Fluff Pulp Machine. This role will report directly to the Superintendent of the NC5 Fluff Pulp Machine.

Key Responsibilities:
Your primary focus will be to lead the operational activities of the Fluff Pulp Machine to meet departmental goals related to safety, cleanliness, environmental standards, productivity, cost management, and product excellence.

  • Identify and pursue continuous improvement initiatives where performance gaps exist, providing leadership and actionable plans for resolution.
  • Collaborate with the Area Maintenance Coordinator to identify necessary repairs in the NC5/Shipping department, ensuring equipment reliability and availability.
  • Engage with the AMC to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks promptly.
  • Oversee the inventory and usage of all consumables and process chemicals.
  • Utilize your leadership skills to guide the machine crew in resolving quality issues and implementing procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Prioritize safety and environmental stewardship in all operations.
  • Achieve manufacturing objectives by clearly communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and evaluating job performance; coaching and mentoring employees; and enforcing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate staff training and foster personal development opportunities.
  • Ensure smooth workflow by monitoring process steps, setting operational variables, observing control points and equipment, and managing personnel and resources effectively.
  • Complete production schedules by assigning personnel, establishing priorities, and monitoring progress.
  • Maintain high-quality service by upholding organizational standards.
  • Ensure equipment functionality by coordinating repairs and evaluating new technologies.
  • Compile and analyze production performance data to provide insights and respond to inquiries.
  • Revise systems and procedures by assessing operational practices and implementing necessary changes.
  • Promote a safe and organized work environment by educating staff on equipment and resource usage while ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Maintain a constructive relationship with union representatives by adhering to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Address personnel issues by analyzing data, investigating concerns, and recommending solutions.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by participating in educational workshops and reviewing industry publications.
  • Contribute to team success by achieving related objectives as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, or a High School Diploma with 10+ years of practical production experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven ability to analyze failures and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Experience supervising hourly employees in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Mill Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays, and to be on call as required.
  • Strong communication skills, including report and SOP writing.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, ownership, and leadership qualities.
  • Experience in coaching and enforcing rules and policies.
  • Ability to instill a sense of urgency in operational tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with SAP systems.
  • Experience with Kronos software.
