Position Overview:
The Plymouth Mill is in search of a skilled and committed Shift Supervisor for the NC5 Fluff Pulp Machine. This role will report directly to the Superintendent of the NC5 Fluff Pulp Machine.

Key Responsibilities:
Your primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading operational initiatives for the Fluff Pulp Machine to meet safety, environmental, productivity, cost, and quality standards.
  • Identifying areas for continuous improvement and developing action plans to address performance gaps.
  • Collaborating with the Area Maintenance Coordinator to ensure the NC5/Shipping department's equipment is maintained for optimal reliability.
  • Monitoring the inventory of consumables and process chemicals to ensure adequate supply.
  • Guiding the machine crew in resolving quality issues and implementing effective procedures.
  • Prioritizing safety and environmental leadership in all operations.
  • Communicating job expectations and providing coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Facilitating staff training and promoting personal development opportunities.
  • Overseeing workflow by tracking process steps, adjusting variables, and ensuring resource efficiency.
  • Scheduling and assigning personnel to meet production goals and resolving any operational challenges.
  • Maintaining quality standards by enforcing organizational policies.
  • Coordinating equipment repairs and evaluating new technologies.
  • Compiling and analyzing production performance data to provide insights and address inquiries.
  • Revising operational systems and procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Ensuring a safe and clean work environment through effective personnel education and compliance monitoring.
  • Maintaining a positive relationship with union representatives by adhering to collective bargaining agreements.
  • Addressing personnel issues through data analysis and effective problem-solving.
  • Staying current with industry practices through continuous education and professional development.
  • Contributing to team objectives by achieving related results.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, or a High School Diploma with a minimum of 10 years of practical production experience, including 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot operational failures.
  • Experience supervising hourly employees in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays, and to be on call as needed.
  • Strong communication skills, including report and SOP writing.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills with a commitment to personal growth.
  • Experience in coaching and enforcing workplace rules and policies.
  • Ability to instill a sense of urgency in operational tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with SAP systems.
  • Experience with Kronos software.
