Position Overview:
The Plymouth Mill is seeking a skilled and committed Shift Supervisor for the NC5 Fluff Pulp Machine. This role will report directly to the Superintendent of the NC5 Fluff Pulp Machine.

Key Responsibilities:
Your primary duties will include:
  • Leading operational efforts of the Fluff Pulp Machine to meet safety, environmental, productivity, cost, and quality targets.
  • Identifying and addressing performance gaps through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the Area Maintenance Coordinator to ensure equipment reliability and availability.
  • Overseeing inventory management of consumables and process chemicals.
  • Guiding machine crew in resolving quality issues and implementing necessary procedures.
  • Prioritizing safety and environmental leadership in all operations.
  • Communicating job expectations and evaluating employee performance through coaching and feedback.
  • Facilitating staff training and promoting personal development opportunities.
  • Monitoring workflow and adjusting processing variables to optimize production efficiency.
  • Ensuring adherence to organizational standards for quality service.
  • Coordinating equipment repairs and evaluating new technologies.
  • Compiling and analyzing production performance data to provide insights and support decision-making.
  • Revising operational systems and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by educating staff on compliance with established policies.
  • Upholding a positive relationship with union representatives in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Addressing personnel issues through data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Staying current with industry practices through continuous education and professional development.
  • Contributing to team success by achieving related objectives as needed.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field, or a High School Diploma with 10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot operational failures.
  • Experience supervising unionized hourly employees and ensuring accountability.
  • Familiarity with Mill Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays, and to be on call as required.
  • Strong communication skills, including report and SOP writing.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in coaching and enforcing operational rules and policies.
  • Ability to instill a sense of urgency in operational tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SAP and Kronos systems is advantageous.
