Job Overview

The YMCA of the Roses is seeking a highly motivated Health Promotion Specialist to lead disease prevention and management programs, promoting healthy lifestyles and empowering individuals to take control of their well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Disease Prevention and Management: Develop and implement evidence-based programs that promote healthy behaviors, disease prevention, and management, with a focus on nutrition, physical activity, and stress reduction.
  2. Community Engagement: Foster partnerships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and local businesses to expand program reach and impact.
  3. Program Delivery: Lead group and individual sessions, workshops, and seminars, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage participants.
  4. Participant Support: Provide ongoing support and guidance to participants, helping them set and achieve health goals.
  5. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of participant progress, attendance, and feedback.
Requirements:
  • Certifications: Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification and one evidence-based or health awareness program certification (e.g., Diabetes Prevention Program, Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring).
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience delivering evidence-based programming and performing data collection, or working as a YMCA Wellness Instructor or Personal Trainer.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force regularly and 45 pounds of force occasionally.
Salary Range:

$40,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
