About the Role

The Seattle Theatre Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our team as an Assistant Carpenter. This is a key role within our Carpentry Department, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient execution of all shows and events at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Stage Carpenter to ensure a smooth and safe running of all shows and events.
  • Supervise local crews and collaborate with other stage departments to meet the needs of each production.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of all stage carpentry equipment, including soft goods, stage surfaces, fly systems, and carpentry pieces.
  • Operate power and hand tools safely and efficiently to complete work assignments.
  • Work at elevated positions and maintain a safe and predictable working environment, even in stressful conditions and long hours.
  • Be proactive in work assignments and work independently, with a strong attention to detail.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of traditional stage carpentry and the ability to work with and maintain all stage carpentry equipment.
  • Ability to safely use power and hand tools to complete work assignments.
  • Experience working from elevated positions and a strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and ability to run a Broadway show and cues.
  • Good general working knowledge of lighting and sound equipment.
Physical Requirements
  1. Corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary.
  2. Standing and walking are required for about 90% of the time.
