Job Summary

As a key member of our catering team, the Assistant Director of Event Planning and Catering will be responsible for directing and managing all catering department functions. This includes overseeing the daily activities of the Executive Meeting Services and Catering Management teams, as well as assisting the Director of Catering in preparing the catering department budget and revenue forecasts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage all catering department functions, including catering sales, executive meetings, and department administration.
  • Oversee the daily activities and performance of the Executive Meeting Services and Catering Management teams, including annual performance evaluations and career planning.
  • Assist the Director of Catering in preparing the catering department budget, revenue forecasts, and development and execution of annual business plans.
  • Plan and execute complex group events as assigned by the Director of Catering, ensuring that client specifications and contract obligations are communicated to the appropriate operational departments.
  • Verify that specifications are implemented and executed to established guidelines, and oversee the Banquet Event Order (BEO) distribution process, change log, and daily information report.
  • Assign groups to Catering and Executive Meeting Managers, and partner with the Director of Catering to develop sales promotions and marketing plans to support the overall sales effort.
  • Establish training curriculum and verify manager compliance, and work with direct reports to review scheduled events and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts.
  • Verify furniture and equipment is maintained and inventory levels are kept in accordance to corporate guidelines, and develop a strategy that is aligned with the company's business strategy and leads its execution.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs of the banquet floor to verify client satisfaction and quality standards, and promote exceptional customer service by creating an atmosphere that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED; 7 years experience in catering management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.
  • OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 4 years experience in Catering management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.
Benefits
