Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures to ensure a secure environment.
  • Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and threats to life and property in a timely and effective manner.
  • Monitor surveillance systems, fire alarms, and access control systems to ensure the safety and security of our facilities.
  • Perform foot patrols of our museum facilities to deter and detect potential security threats.
  • Provide assistance to guests, visitors, and employees as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure adequate security measures are in place.
  • Stay up-to-date with Museum Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) and maintain knowledge of security protocols.
  • Provide basic first aid and emergency response as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on security equipment.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years' security officer experience required.
  • Military or law enforcement background preferred.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • State of Florida (Class D) Security License Training Certificate/Card required.
  • CPR certification and first-aid training required.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this role include mobility, prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling. Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace. Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 50 pounds. Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to distinguish letters, symbols, and colors. Normal vision and hearing range.

The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.

Clearance Requirements

Background clearance and drug screening as part of the Drug-Free Workplace Program are required.
