Addictions Counselor Assistant

Join our team as an Addictions Counselor Assistant and play a vital role in the care and counseling of clients at our Addiction Treatment Center.
Responsibilities:- Assist with individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
- Develop, assess, and modify individual treatment plans by gathering information through direct observation and discussion with clients.
- Coordinate care with referral sources, including admission and discharge, and referrals for aftercare.
- Complete required client and facility documentation, adhering to OASAS procedures and confidentiality regulations.
- Conduct and monitor recreational, vocational, and social activities as needed.
- Assist with client transportation, room searches, and urine toxicology collection.
- Prepare room and client supplies for new admissions.
- Conduct routine rounds and document observations, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Provide training or guidance to newer peers, particularly in relation to ATC routines, procedures, and policies.
- Complete insurance inquiries and documentation regarding coordination of care with financial/insurance entities.
- Monitor clients and ensure building safety and security.
- Participate in meal preparation and distribution.
- Communicate shift change information to facilitate smooth transitions.
- Two years of experience, with one year requiring the application of communication skills and one year in a direct treatment capacity in an addiction treatment setting.
- Associates degree in a human services field.
- Current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)-Trainee or CASAC-Provisional in New York State.
The ATC uses a computerized patient record system. OASAS ATC's are Tobacco-Free Facilities.
Prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) and investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) and State and federal Criminal History Record Checks.
Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
Prospective employees will be fingerprinted and may be required to pay any necessary fees.
Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) may be barred from appointment.
