Job Title: Vocational Counselor

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Vocational Counselor to join our team at Newport Mental Health. As a Vocational Counselor, you will play a critical role in helping individuals with mental health conditions achieve their employment and educational goals.

Job Summary:

The Vocational Counselor will work closely with clients to identify and pursue employment and educational opportunities that align with their interests, strengths, and abilities. You will assist clients in overcoming barriers to employment and provide ongoing support to help them maintain competitive employment or pursue educational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct vocational evaluations and assessments to identify client strengths and abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized recovery plans to help clients achieve their employment and educational goals.
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to clients to help them maintain competitive employment or pursue educational opportunities.
  • Network and communicate with employers to secure job opportunities for clients.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to provide necessary case management supports.
  • Assist clients in developing and securing new positions through liaison activities with the Office of Rehabilitation Services and community employers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field and SEP certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of the IPS Model and Evidence-Based Practices preferred.
  • Minimum of six months experience required.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery treatment planning, vocational assessment, skills training, and job placement and development.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of individuals.
  • Caring and empathetic, with the desire to help others in need.
  • Self-motivated and independent, with the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation.
