Marina Operations Assistant

Building and Land Technology (BLT) is seeking seasonal Marina Operations Assistants for the upcoming season.
The Marina Operations Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the marina team and must possess a strong service-oriented mindset. Responsibilities include a range of tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the marina, assisting boaters, tenants, community visitors, and transient guests. Maintaining a safe and tidy environment throughout the marina and the waterfront community is essential. The role requires flexibility and comfort working in proximity to water.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional service to guests and boaters, ensuring a memorable experience.
- Welcome all visitors, guests, and tenants with kindness and professionalism.
- Provide top-tier customer service, including local knowledge and information.
- Exhibit a high level of professionalism and a positive public image.
- Assist the Marina Manager with various marina services, including quality control and guest services.
- Support guests and visitors with their general needs throughout the community.
- Maintain cleanliness in the Dock Master Office, windows, gardens, docks, and other designated areas.
- Ensure all marina equipment and facilities are operational.
- Adhere to OSHA and environmental regulations, as well as company policies.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Support the Marina and Management team as needed.
- Document and report any security-related incidents to management.
Qualifications:
- Perform daily tasks to meet quality standards for marina operations, including cleaning and maintenance.
- Proficient swimmer with basic boating knowledge.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency; familiarity with Word/Excel is a plus.
- Prior customer service experience is preferred.
- Positive attitude and ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability to changing priorities to meet team and guest needs.
- Ability to work independently and motivate team members.
- Physical capability to walk, bend, stoop, and work safely around water.
- Demonstrate professionalism, honesty, and a strong work ethic.
- Comply with all company policies.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
- 1 - 3 years of relevant boating experience preferred (training available for the right candidate).
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
- CT state boating license is a plus but not required.
- Physical fitness to lift at least 40 lbs. and work in various weather conditions.
- CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus but not mandatory.
