This is a unique opportunity to join the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs as a Fisheries Biologist II.

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our field-based monitoring and evaluation efforts for the Hood River Production Program.

About the Role

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating adult and juvenile fish traps, marking fish with various tags, tracking fish movements using PIT and radio telemetry equipment, and conducting surveys to measure the presence and abundance of salmonids in the wild.

You will also assist with data summary, data analysis, and technical report writing for various projects within the Hood River basin, including stream habitat restoration.

One of your primary responsibilities will be to serve as the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Monitoring & Evaluation Project.

You will develop and implement educational programs that engage youth in learning about tribal culture, salmon biology, and watershed health through field trips and in-classroom lessons.

A Bachelor's Degree in fisheries science or a closely related field and at least 3 years of related experience are required for this position.

Familiarity with Pacific Northwest salmon life history and habitat requirements is essential, along with a valid driver's license and insurability by the Tribe.

You should have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to follow detailed directions both written and oral, and possess the ability to work in the field, office, and public environments in all weather conditions with supervision.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $60,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on experience.
