Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Controls Specialist to join our team at West Fraser, Inc. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our lumber manufacturing process equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial process equipment, including control panels and electrical systems.
  • Complete daily runtime predictive routes using predictive tools to identify potential issues.
  • Recognize and document potential job hazards in compliance with company policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve safety, electrical, production, and quality goals.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years' industrial electrical/controls experience, including troubleshooting, maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial process equipment.
  • Experience reading and understanding schematics, technical documents, and blueprints.
  • Ability to wire, test, and troubleshoot control panels integrated with PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives, and other Solid-state control devices.
  • Ability to interpret control wiring schemes within an Industrial plant environment.
  • Experience utilizing electrical troubleshooting equipment and tools.
  • Experience using a computer to perform tasks such as email, data entry, and document creation.
  • Willingness to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
  • Willingness to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work in elevated areas.
  • Experience working within the company and state environmental and safety policies/procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently holding an electrician license.
  • Experience with PLC, LADDER LOGIC, HMI, PANELVIEW, AND NFPA 70E.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Associate Degree in Instrument or Electrical/Electronic Technology with a minimum of 3 years related experience to the lumber manufacturing process.
  • Experience in thermography with level 1 certification.
