Job Title: Computer Associate

Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a highly skilled Computer Associate to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for our computer systems and networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot network elements such as switches, servers, workstations, and storage devices.
  • Assist with the deployment and troubleshooting of computer equipment, mobile devices, and desk phones.
  • Set up new users with access to LAN, email, printer, internet, home folder, shared folders, and standard software applications.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, perform security system administration, system upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with flat-file database system development, perform weekly updates, and maintain documentation.
  • Perform diagnostics, including visual inspections of head-end equipment cabinets, and document hardware maintenance requirements.
  • Assist with IT equipment life cycle management, review project documentation, coordinate with contractors, and participate in testing processes.
  • Aid subject matter experts in implementing HxGN EAM software and rolling out EAM-related projects.

Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience in mainframe computer, mid-range computer, LAN or WAN computer environments, and/or local desktop support.
  • Associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and three years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described above.
  • Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described above.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with fiber optic data communication networks, including Cisco L2/L3 switches, Windows and Linux servers/workstations, network audio/video recorders, CCTV security cameras, intercoms, and door access control systems.
  • Well-versed with Cisco IOS command line interface.
  • Experience providing hands-on technical support to end-users related to PC/Wyse box, multi-function printers, Microsoft 365 apps/services, shared folders, mobile devices, and various standard/proprietary application software.
  • Experience working with LAN/WAN/VLAN, switching/routing protocols, and networking tools/techniques.
  • Experience developing flat-file database systems and performing database maintenance/management.
  • Familiarity with proprietary systems, such as Genetec Security Center, Genetec Clearance, Nexus Server, Giga Smart, Giga VUE, Nozomi Network Guardian, Nozomi Network Central Management Console, Dominion Terminal Server, SIMATIC WinCC, Software House Ccure 9000, and/or Lenel Access Control System.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
  • Responsible, reliable, and organized.
  • Team player with good customer service skills.
