Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Lead Teacher who will oversee, develop, implement, and coordinate curriculum and assessments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working alongside Teacher Assistants to create a safe, healthy, structured, and nurturing environment.
- Engaging with children in learning - reading, playing, and having fun.
- Inspiring children to be lifelong learners.
- Partnering with families to nurture and care for their children.
- Showcasing your tech savvy skills by using an electronic daily tracking app.
- Assisting with the accreditation process as well as other quality initiatives.
We are seeking a candidate with 1-3 years of experience working with children in this age group. Your ideal skills and qualifications include:
- A personal demeanor that is warm and friendly.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Organized and able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Team-oriented and willing to work with others.
- Management / leadership skills.
We prefer candidates with a College credits, Associate's degree, or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field. However, we will train the right person and offer opportunities to gain a degree or college credits.
Certifications/ExperienceWe prefer candidates with at least 1 year working with children in this age group and at least 1 year working in an early learning/child care setting. Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certification and knowledge of Teaching Strategies and/or Conscious Discipline are also preferred.
Physical RequirementsYou must be able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting) and have visual and hearing acuity. You must also be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Other QualificationsYou must be 21 years of age or older and able to read, write, speak and understand English. You must also pass a national criminal background/fingerprint check and a Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS).
