Position Overview

  • Prep Cook: Responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of food, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, in accordance with facility menus and applicable federal, state, and local standards. This role ensures that quality dining services are maintained at all times, following established policies and procedures, and may involve directing other employees with approval in the absence of supervisory staff.
  • Safety: Utilize protective gear in all relevant tasks. Responsible for the safe and proper mixing and use of cleaning solutions while adhering to safety precautions. Timely reporting of equipment or cleaning product needs to supervisors is essential.
  • Punctuality: Consistent attendance and timely arrival are crucial. Complete assigned tasks according to schedule and respond promptly to paging systems.
  • Customer Experience: Represent HCSG positively by following instructions and maintaining courteous interactions with supervisors, co-workers, and client staff.
  • Resident Experience: Engage in positive and respectful interactions with residents, staff, and facility guests.

Qualifications

  • Exhibit a positive attitude with the ability to follow both oral and written instructions, performing routine tasks consistently.
  • After completing training, demonstrate leadership skills to fulfill responsibilities independently while ensuring safety.
  • Culinary Arts degree or certification, or a minimum of five years of culinary experience at the Sous Chef level or equivalent. Completion of an approved sanitation and safety course (ServSafe) is required.
  • Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is mandatory based on State/County regulations.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies is required as mandated by State, Local, and/or Customers.
  • Ability to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds and perform tasks that involve standing, sitting, bending, and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be capable of performing routine tasks continuously and working around food and cleaning products.
  • Must reside within the service area.
