This position is part of our Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company, a renowned provider of essential hardware and systems solutions, including advanced energetic systems and innovative explosive technologies.


We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to assist with our indirect procurement and production initiatives, reporting to the Senior Supply Chain and Logistics Manager.


Key Responsibilities:


Manage both indirect and direct supplier procurement, explore alternative supplier options, and ensure timely delivery of materials and services to support our operations and engineering teams.


Develop and oversee supplier Requests for Quotations, Purchase Orders, and supply Kanban systems.


Conduct evaluations of supplier capabilities against requirements, engage in supplier sourcing, perform risk assessments, and select and develop suppliers. Negotiate terms with suppliers, manage scheduling, and oversee ERP/MRP system planning and Purchase Order management. Address conflicts and follow up with suppliers to guarantee timely delivery of high-quality products at optimal costs.


Collaborate with Proposal Engineers and Development Engineering as the procurement representative for new product proposals.



Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards related to purchasing, storage, and transportation of materials.


Prepare procurement cost justifications in line with the Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and DFAR (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations).


Engage in Continuous Improvement initiatives, partnering with suppliers and internal stakeholders to enhance cost efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.


Work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously at a tactical level.



Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a BA/BS in Supply Chain, Finance, or Business, along with 2 to 5 years of tactical purchasing or related experience in the Aerospace and Defense sector.

Experience in both low-volume development procurement (R&D) and low/medium-volume production procurement is advantageous.

Familiarity with Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing principles, and basic operations of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is required.

Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and related government procurement documentation is essential.

Proficiency in MS Windows applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project is necessary.

The candidate must demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Thrives in a dynamic and changing work environment. Must be energetic, positive, and capable of working independently while exhibiting an entrepreneurial spirit.

Willingness to travel as necessary (0-10%).
