Job Overview:

The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for developing and executing radiation treatment plans utilizing both computerized and manual methods to ensure the accurate delivery of prescribed radiation doses as per the radiation oncologist's directives.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Formulate treatment plans employing advanced computational techniques to optimize radiation delivery while protecting critical structures.
2. Identify and delineate normal and dose-sensitive structures using various imaging datasets.
3. Generate and transfer reference images and localization markers for treatment verification, including digitally reconstructed radiography (DRRs) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).
4. Conduct simulations and tumor localization utilizing imaging devices such as CT, MRI, and PET.
5. Create custom compensators, filters, and other beam-modifying devices.
6. Design and implement immobilization devices such as molds and casts.
7. Collaborate with radiation therapists to ensure proper implementation of treatment plans, including the correct application of immobilization devices and treatment parameters.
8. Perform calculations to ensure accurate dose delivery, documenting all relevant information in patient records and verifying calculation accuracy.
9. Support the radiation oncology team in maintaining safety protocols and conducting quality assurance checks on treatment plans and equipment.
10. Assist in brachytherapy procedures, including treatment planning and dose calculations.
11. Utilize radiation monitoring devices for measuring radioactivity and conducting assays.
12. Educate students, radiation therapists, and residents on the practical aspects of medical dosimetry.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
A valid and active certification as a Medical Dosimetrist issued by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience as a Medical Dosimetrist will be considered an asset.

Certificates and Licenses:
Must possess a valid and active certification as a Medical Dosimetrist.
Additionally, a valid California Class C Driver License or an alternative transportation method is required for job-related functions.

Physical Requirements:
This position involves light physical activity, including occasional lifting and considerable ambulation.

Special Information:
