Job Overview:

The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for developing and executing radiation treatment plans utilizing both computerized and manual methods to ensure accurate delivery of prescribed radiation doses as directed by the radiation oncologist.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement treatment plans that optimize beam geometry while adhering to oncologist prescriptions.
2. Identify and delineate normal and critical structures using imaging data.
3. Generate reference images and localization markers for treatment verification, employing advanced imaging techniques.
4. Conduct simulations and tumor localization with various imaging modalities.
5. Create custom devices to modify radiation beams and ensure patient immobilization.
6. Collaborate with radiation therapists to ensure the effective application of treatment plans.
7. Perform precise calculations for dose delivery and maintain accurate patient records.
8. Support the radiation oncology team in maintaining safety standards and conducting quality assurance checks.
9. Engage in educational activities, sharing knowledge of medical dosimetry with students and colleagues.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
- Valid certification as a Medical Dosimetrist from the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.

Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience as a Medical Dosimetrist will be considered an asset.

Certificates and Licenses:
- Active certification as a Medical Dosimetrist.
- Valid California Class C Driver License or alternative transportation means.

Physical Requirements:
- Light physical effort may be required, including occasional lifting and mobility.

Additional Information:
- The examination process will evaluate experience and qualifications. Candidates must achieve a passing score to be placed on the eligible register.
