Position Overview:
The County of Los Angeles is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Medical Dosimetrist. This role is essential in the development and execution of radiation treatment strategies, ensuring optimal patient care through precise dosimetry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Design Treatment Protocols:** Utilize advanced computational methods to create effective treatment plans that deliver prescribed radiation doses while minimizing exposure to healthy tissues.
2. **Image Analysis:** Identify and delineate critical anatomical structures using various imaging modalities to inform treatment planning.
3. **Verification Processes:** Generate and manage reference images and localization markers to ensure accurate treatment delivery, employing techniques such as digitally reconstructed radiography and cone beam computed tomography.
4. **Simulation and Localization:** Conduct simulations and tumor localization using imaging technologies, including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
5. **Custom Device Fabrication:** Develop and implement custom compensators, shielding devices, and immobilization tools to enhance treatment accuracy.
6. **Collaboration:** Work closely with radiation therapists to ensure the correct application of treatment plans, providing guidance on the use of immobilization and other treatment parameters.
7. **Quality Assurance:** Participate in quality assurance activities, ensuring the accuracy of treatment delivery and compliance with safety standards.
8. **Education and Training:** Provide instruction on medical dosimetry principles to students and healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
1. A valid and active certification as a Medical Dosimetrist from the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.
2. A valid California Class C Driver License or an alternative transportation method for job-related duties.
Physical Requirements:
This position may involve light physical activity, including occasional lifting and considerable walking.
