Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and implements safety protocols, ensuring that compliance is effective, relevant, and comprehensive.
  • Motivates employees to embrace safety standards and fosters a culture of commitment to workplace safety.
  • Assesses risks and prioritizes health and safety initiatives to optimize resource allocation.
  • Collaborates across departments to nurture and promote a safety-oriented environment.
  • Organizes and maintains records for all necessary safety training obligations.
  • Documents and updates procedures, guidelines, and records related to environmental health and safety policies and practices.
  • Reviews plans and specifications for existing and new equipment to ensure adherence to safety regulations, including Job Hazard Analysis and Energy Control procedures.
  • Identifies and facilitates the implementation of engineering controls or safety measures for processes and equipment.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of environmental health regulations and compliance requirements from local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Stays informed on evolving regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Investigates incidents, injuries, or occupational illnesses to identify root causes and initiate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Acts as the Emergency Coordinator when required.
  • Maintains and communicates the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
  • Conducts safety drills as needed.
  • Performs regular inspections, ensuring thorough documentation of findings.
  • Leads the Safety Committee in accordance with the IIPP and relevant regulations.
  • Ensures that all management personnel are aware of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are trained in its distribution and maintenance.
  • Directs safety audits, assists in report preparation, and collaborates with local emergency services, regulatory bodies, consultants, and vendors.
  • Develops and implements safety incentive programs to enhance awareness and compliance.
  • Consolidates safety records for easy access and visibility, including OSHA 300 Logs and annual OSHA documentation.
  • Serves as a liaison between the organization, regulatory bodies, and workers' compensation carriers regarding safety and environmental practices.
  • Coordinates and delivers safety training for all employees during orientation and annually thereafter.
  • Collaborates with maintenance and production teams to develop and uphold lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Recommends updates to safety processes in response to organizational growth, equipment changes, and regulatory updates.
  • Integrates safety into ongoing improvement initiatives by leveraging current industry resources.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Associate degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Communications, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering effective safety training programs.
  • Experience in developing and documenting procedures, processes, and systems to support EHS initiatives.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Communications, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • OSHA Certification.
  • Experience with LEAN Manufacturing principles.
Skills:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.

  • Expertise in operational safety and equipment calibration.
  • Skilled in presenting information effectively to large groups.
  • Maintains professional relationships with colleagues in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Travel Requirements:
  • Minimal travel for seminars and events as necessary.
