Activities Director

Responsibilities- Develop and implement lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual opportunities for residents.
- Plan and coordinate community events, including holidays and special events.
- Recruit and develop resources for services to residents, including volunteers and community partners.
- Advise and motivate residents regarding individual and group activities based on resident interests and opportunities for growth.
- Prepare and organize a calendar of events, submitting it to the Executive Director for final approval.
- Develop and print the community newsletter.
- Provide leadership of lifestyle program and coordinate community library.
- Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
- Prepare preliminary draft of Celebrations Operating Budget.
- Organize and supervise a volunteer staff.
- Address resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
- Maintain a database and prepare reports on resident quality assurance assessments, participation, and satisfaction.
- Supervise staff of Recreation and Event Coordinators across multiple levels of service in a retirement community.
- Participate in community in-services.
- Demonstrate competence in Federal, State, and Local regulations, requirements for skilled nursing, assisted living, and/or independent living as applicable; ensure compliance.
- Develop, facilitate, and analyze resident surveys to determine ongoing activities are in place that meet resident interests.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate mixed group activities.
- Develop and facilitate daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms, and other resident and team member communication centers.
- Maintain a robust public relations program in support of activities programming and community relations.
- Implement and facilitate a volunteer recognition program.
- Associate degree in Recreation, Education, Gerontology, Social Work, Adult Education preferred.
- Three to five years related experience.
- Two years supervisory/management experience.
