Job Title: Juvenile Institutional Officer

Under general supervision, the Juvenile Institutional Officer will act as a group leader in directing the activities of youths detained in Juvenile Institutions. The successful candidate will supervise and counsel a group of youth placed in Probation facilities, provide lead direction to entry-level Juvenile Institution Officer Associates, and perform related duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct the activities of youths detained in Juvenile Institutions
  • Supervise and counsel a group of youth placed in Probation facilities

  • Perform related duties as required
Requirements:
  • Equivalent of one year of full-time experience in the classification of Juvenile Institutional Officer Associate or in an equivalent or higher level probation classification in the Alameda County classified service
  • Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license
  • Ability to plan, supervise, and direct the activities of a group of youth
  • Ability to maintain firm discipline in a fair and tactful manner
  • Ability to aid in the rehabilitation of youth
  • Ability to secure and maintain the cooperation of coworkers and subordinates
Working Conditions:

The Juvenile Institutional Officer will work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse group of youth and adults. The successful candidate will be required to work all shifts and locations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
