We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Care Specialist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. This is a full-time, evening position that offers a competitive salary of $73,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Job Description

The Pediatric Care Specialist will provide child life services for ambulatory and inpatient children and their families, administering programs and providing services that reduce distress, increase adaptive coping, and protect developmental integrity.

This role involves planning and implementing therapeutic play programs, utilizing techniques, assessments, and observations as diagnostic and treatment tools. The successful candidate will also assist in preparing and orienting children and families for diagnostic and treatment procedures, providing support and helping facilitate coping through stress reduction techniques.

The Pediatric Care Specialist will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide services in a holistic manner, consulting with other team members regarding the developmental status and individual needs of children.

Additional responsibilities include presenting educational programs to healthcare professionals and the community on topics related to child health and development, the impact of illness, injury, and hospitalization on children and families, and parent education.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Growth and Development, Recreational Therapy, or a related field, and be eligible for certification as a Child Life Specialist by the Child Life Certification Commission.
