Position Overview:
Location: Professional Performance Development Group, Inc.
Hours: 8.5 working hours between 6am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, including a 30-minute lunch break.

Job Summary:
The Biomedical Equipment Specialist is responsible for the installation, inspection, repair, calibration, and modification of biomedical devices and support systems. This role includes advising personnel and other organizations on operational theories, physiological principles, and the safe clinical use of biomedical technologies. The specialist will provide technology management and equipment repair/calibration support within the medical treatment facility. The position also involves assessing and evaluating the condition of medical equipment in use to recommend maintenance, upgrades, or replacements.

Qualifications:
  • An associate degree in biomedical equipment technology or engineering, equivalent military education, or a high school diploma with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • BLS Certification.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a biomedical technician.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary to obtain authorization for driving a government vehicle to service medical equipment.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficient in applying a variety of specialized methods, principles, and techniques related to electronics and complex medical system failures.
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic principles, practices, operating parameters, and limitations of complex medical systems and equipment.
  • Familiarity with regulations and practices from the Department of Defense, The Joint Commission, AAAHC, CAP, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, FDA, and others as they pertain to biomedical equipment.
  • Skilled in interpreting technical data, including drawings, schematics, and specifications, and in troubleshooting integrated systems.
  • Ability to maintain, repair, and test biomedical equipment in strict compliance with OEM technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct testing and calibration of components using manufacturer manuals and troubleshooting techniques, along with hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and updates for equipment.
  • Inspect and test malfunctioning medical equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Disassemble faulty equipment to repair or replace defective components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting equipment as per OEM guidelines.
  • Evaluate and classify medical equipment to determine serviceability and compliance with regulations.
  • Inspect medical equipment and the facility's environment to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Stay updated with technical manuals and participate in training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers.
  • Provide training to medical staff on the correct operation and preventive maintenance of medical equipment.
