Biomedical Equipment Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Biomedical Equipment Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, repair, calibration, and modification of biomedical equipment and support systems. You will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of medical technology within our client facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections and tests of biomedical equipment using manufacturer's manuals and troubleshooting techniques, employing hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair, and updates performed on equipment.
  • Disassemble malfunctioning equipment to identify and replace defective parts, such as motors, transformers, and circuit boards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance services, including cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of equipment, adhering to OEM specifications.
  • Evaluate the condition of excess or in-use medical equipment, determining its serviceability, condition, and appropriate disposition according to regulations.
  • Inspect medical equipment and facility environments to ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies, protecting patients and staff from electrical or mechanical hazards.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in biomedical technology by studying technical manuals and attending training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers.
  • Provide comprehensive training to medical staff on the proper operation and preventive maintenance procedures for various medical equipment.
Qualifications:
  • An associate degree in biomedical equipment technology or engineering, or equivalent military education, is preferred. A high school diploma with at least four years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Current BLS Certification is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a biomedical technician is essential.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is necessary to obtain authorization for driving government motor vehicles to service medical equipment located in various buildings.
