As a Laboratory Specialist III - Patient Care Services, you will be responsible for performing standard laboratory tasks according to procedures. Your primary responsibilities will include loading and unloading lab specimens from automated and non-automated instrumentation, performing various waived testing, assisting in problem requisitions/specimens, and orienting new hires. Additionally, you will assist customers, including answering phones and responding to customer inquiries. You will also collect, label, process, and preserve blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures. Your other duties will include entering, accessing, and executing lab orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system, cleaning and maintaining laboratory supplies and work area, updating statistical records, labeling tubes, and scheduling processing runs. You may also perform moderate complexity testing, phlebotomy, and/or waived testing. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent years of education and experience, as well as one year of experience in a laboratory setting. The physical requirements for this position include frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs, frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements, and frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and to identify and distinguish colors. The work shift for this position is a day shift, and the job type is an employee. The department for this position is a laboratory, and the scheduled weekly hours are 28. The required professional license and/or certifications for this position are none.
