Role Overview:
As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in fostering a child's success throughout their educational journey. Your focus will be on the holistic development of each student, encompassing their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. This foundational support enables our students to become competent, caring, and contributing members of society.

Compensation:
Salary Range: $17.50 to $19.91/hr*
*Salary range is based on relevant experience, credentials, education, and proficiency in a second language (if applicable).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with exceptional needs in accessing and engaging with their curriculum or school activities, including managing learning breakdowns that may lead to challenging behaviors.
  • Reinforce lessons provided by teachers through one-on-one or small group reviews.
  • Supervise students during class, transitions, lunch, recess, and field trips.
  • Collaborate with teachers to review daily lesson plans and contribute ideas as appropriate.
  • Work closely with students in individual or small group settings to enhance specific academic skills.
  • Observe and support students in managing their behavior using positive strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • During behavioral incidents, assess situations and implement necessary interventions to ensure safety for students and staff.
  • Complete required documentation, including incident reports and data collection, in accordance with company policies.
  • Participate in special programs with students as needed.
  • Help maintain a safe and healthy environment for students by being vigilant and following established guidelines.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, facilitating group activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma
  • Successful completion of a job-related health screening
  • Willingness to participate in a comprehensive, in-house training program
  • Reliable transportation
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (training provided if necessary)
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Current TB test (within 2 months)
Work Environment:
The role of an Educational Support Specialist may involve a moderate to loud noise level and can occasionally be emotionally challenging due to the nature of working with students who may exhibit aggressive behaviors. Physical requirements include the ability to carry, push, pull, and move objects such as desks and chairs, as well as frequent bending, stooping, walking, and standing. Additionally, the role may require physical management of students in accordance with established behavioral intervention principles.
