Position Summary
Join our vibrant Research and Development team at STERIS as we seek a skilled design engineer specializing in power electronics and motor control systems. Your expertise will play a crucial role in various stages of the product lifecycle, from initial design through to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
As a vital member of our team, you will:

  • Design printed circuit boards (PCBs) and flexible circuit boards for surgical device repairs.
  • Develop embedded systems with a focus on power systems and motor control.
  • Conduct measurements and document the electrical and physical characteristics of electronic components.
  • Utilize electrical test equipment to analyze and characterize circuit operations.
  • Identify and analyze communication protocols within circuits using oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers.
  • Create equivalent circuits to replicate the functionality of existing electronic components.
  • Write software to simulate the operation of electronic components.
  • Design and test fixtures for electronic assemblies.
  • Source and identify electronic components.
  • Collaborate with vendors for the fabrication of PCBs, flexible circuits, and electrical cables.
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot prototype electronic assemblies.
  • Maintain comprehensive design and process documentation.
  • Conduct failure analyses to identify critical components.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, preferably within a regulated industry.
  • Proficiency in digital and analog electronic circuit design, particularly with embedded microcontrollers.
  • Strong skills in C programming and microcontroller firmware development.
  • Familiarity with various electronic communication protocols.
  • Experience in computer-aided PCB design, with a preference for Altium Designer.
  • A hands-on approach to engineering tasks.

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $67,000 to $94,762.50, with minimum pay rates compliant with local regulations. Compensation is determined by various factors, including local labor market conditions, relevant experience, education, and professional certifications.
