Position Summary
Join our vibrant Research and Development team at STERIS. We are in search of a design engineer with a solid background in power electronics and motor control systems. Experience with the TI motor drive platform is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will engage in various stages of the product lifecycle, from initial concept through to production. Collaboration and teamwork are vital, as you will partner closely with colleagues to drive innovation and excellence.
- Design printed circuit boards (PCBs) and flexible circuit boards for surgical device repairs.
- Develop embedded systems focusing on power systems and motor control.
- Document and measure electrical and physical characteristics of electronic components.
- Utilize electrical testing equipment to analyze and characterize circuit operations.
- Investigate and identify communication protocols within circuits using oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers.
- Create equivalent circuits to replicate the functionality of existing electronic components.
- Develop software to simulate the operation of electronic components.
- Design programming and testing fixtures for electronic assemblies.
- Source and identify electronic components.
- Collaborate with vendors for the fabrication of PCBs, flexible circuits, and other electronic assemblies.
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot prototype electronic systems.
- Maintain and create design and process documentation.
- Conduct failure analysis and identify critical components.
- Work under moderate supervision.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field, preferably within a regulated industry. Proficiency in digital and analog circuit design, particularly with embedded microcontrollers and microprocessors, is essential. Candidates should also be skilled in C programming and have experience with microcontroller firmware. A solid understanding of various electronic communication protocols and experience with computer-aided PCB design (preferably Altium Designer) is required. A hands-on approach to tasks is crucial.
Compensation
The pay range for this opportunity is $67,000 to $94,762.50. Minimum pay rates will adhere to local county or city minimums, if higher than the listed range. Compensation is determined by various factors, including local labor market conditions, relevant experience, education, professional certifications, and language proficiency.
