Job Overview

Southeast Orthopedic Specialists, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in the Southpark Clinic in St. Augustine. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our orthopedic medical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate communication between patients and providers by collecting and sharing pertinent information, and receiving and acting on directives from the provider.
  • Prepare patients for visits with providers, including rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vitals, reviewing intake paperwork, and accurate data entry into EMR.
  • Create and promote a positive patient experience by actively participating in the planning and setup of all supplies needed for procedures.
  • Assist the surgical team during operative procedures as assigned by the RN or physician, and maintain patient safety by monitoring sterile technique during draping and throughout the surgical procedure.
  • Responsible for daily sterilization of equipment and supplies, and maintaining exam room standards, including restocking and cleaning as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • General knowledge of patient care in a clinic, and knowledge of outpatient procedure room policies and procedures.
  • Ability to problem-solve, adapt to change, and demonstrate compassion when dealing with patients and family members.
  • Ability to work in an environment that frequently produces a high level of stress and mental fatigue.
Working Conditions
  • Normal and emergent clinical environment, with potential exposure to unpleasant odors, blood and body fluids, infectious disease, and chemical or electrical hazards.
  • Some travel within the community may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Good visual acuity, accurate color vision, and ability to transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, and reach, grasp, use fine finger movement, and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size, and shape.
