Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified English Language Learners Instructor to join our team at Cedar Rapids Community School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instruction and support to students with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English Language Learners from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds
  • Assess academic and language proficiency levels
  • Differentiate instruction based on cultural backgrounds, proficiency levels, and learning styles
  • Support classroom teachers with accommodations and strategies for English Learners
  • Actively promote integration of ELL and mainstream students
  • Advocate for the ELL program, students, and families
  • Attend and participate in District ELL Professional Learning Community
  • Collaborate with District Community Liaisons to support students and families
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education required
  • ESL Endorsement Required
  • Experience teaching 6-8 English Learners
  • Cultural sensitivity for students from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge and experience with Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP)
Language Skills

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to read, analyze, and implement ideas contained in technical documents and professional journals.
