Position Overview

As a key member of the Capital Markets Pricing and Valuation team, you will play a crucial role in assessing the value of Fannie Mae's Asset and Liability portfolios. This position requires applying your financial expertise and utilizing advanced analytical tools, including SQL, Python, and R, to support the team in delivering accurate market valuations.

Your Contributions

In the role of Pricing - Financial Engineering - Associate, you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions through the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to develop cash flow models, pricing strategies, and valuation methodologies that support Fannie Mae's fixed-income portfolios and new business ventures.
  • Engage in discussions regarding market trends and fixed income concepts with both internal and external stakeholders, including Trade Desk and Risk Management teams.
  • Perform daily fair-value pricing for the organization’s loans, securities, debt, and derivatives, ensuring accurate reporting for various departments.
  • Conduct research on market dynamics and risk factors influencing portfolio pricing.
  • Implement pricing strategies that align with current market conditions while minimizing operational risks.
  • Efficiently document and analyze large datasets using advanced financial engineering techniques.
  • Contribute to financial forecasting and analysis, including conducting scenario analysis and stress testing.
  • Assist in executing models and interpreting results, translating complex data into clear insights for stakeholders.
  • Support model development by providing feedback on new models and analyzing existing model performance.
  • Conduct thorough data and systems analysis, including validation and regression testing.
Qualifications

Experience Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in fixed income markets, particularly in trading, portfolio management, or securities valuation.
  • A strong desire to pursue professional designations such as CFA, CPA, FRM, or CTP.
  • Basic understanding of mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and financial markets.
  • Familiarity with fixed income analytics, including DCFs, OAS, Duration/Convexity, and spreads.
  • Ability to communicate financial concepts effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with valuation tools such as Bloomberg and Intex is advantageous.
  • Experience with SQL is a plus.
  • Capability to work independently in conducting market research and analytics.

Work Expectations

Successful candidates will be expected to meet the demands of the team and the organization, which may occasionally require extended hours to meet project deadlines.
