The University of Miami Health System, known as UHealth, within the Department of Pediatrics - Debbie School, is pleased to announce an opening for a Speech Language Pathologist. This role involves initiating speech and language services for patients enrolled in designated facilities. The Speech Language Pathologist will also conduct evaluations and provide therapy services for students participating in relevant school programs. Additionally, the incumbent will engage in a multidisciplinary team and undertake administrative responsibilities.

  • Assess, design, and deliver speech-language pathology and auditory-verbal therapy for children who are deaf or hard of hearing enrolled in Debbie School programs.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment strategies and achieve meaningful outcomes.
  • Assist in the creation, planning, and execution of programs aimed at generalizing speech and language objectives for both home-based and center-based students.
  • Contribute to the implementation of classroom-based therapy models and techniques aligned with program philosophy.
  • Facilitate therapy in natural settings whenever feasible.
  • Consult with classroom educators to integrate speech therapy goals within the classroom environment.
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement assistive technology use in educational settings. Initiate speech-language pathology evaluations, maintain quarterly progress notes, Medicaid documentation, care plans, family support plan objectives, and final discharge summaries.
  • Engage in training parents and classroom staff on effective communication strategies to promote skill generalization.
  • Assist with grant writing and administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Maintain licensure in Florida for Speech Language Pathology.
  • Comply with University and departmental policies and procedures while safeguarding University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or participation in the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Professional or provisional license in Speech & Language Pathology from the State of Florida.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize tasks under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
