The University of Miami Health System, known as UHealth, is seeking a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist I to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Debbie School. This role involves initiating speech and language services for patients within designated facilities. The Speech Language Pathologist I will also conduct evaluations and provide therapy services for students enrolled in relevant educational programs. Additionally, the position requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team and undertaking various administrative responsibilities.

  • Assess, design, and execute speech-language pathology and auditory treatment for children who are deaf or hard of hearing enrolled in Debbie School programs.
  • Engage in a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment strategies aimed at achieving meaningful outcomes.
  • Assist in the creation, planning, and execution of programs that generalize speech and language objectives for both home and center-based students.
  • Contribute to the implementation of classroom-based therapy models and techniques aligned with program philosophy.
  • Facilitate therapy in natural settings whenever feasible.
  • Collaborate with classroom educators to integrate speech therapy goals within the classroom environment.
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement assistive technology use in educational settings. Initiate speech-language pathology evaluations, quarterly progress reports, Medicaid documentation, care plans, family support plan objectives, and final discharge summaries.
  • Participate in training parents and classroom staff on effective communication strategies to enhance skill generalization.
  • Support grant writing and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Maintain licensure for Speech Language Pathology in Florida.
  • Comply with University and departmental policies and procedures while safeguarding University resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or be in the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Professional or provisional license in Speech & Language Pathology from the State of Florida.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize tasks under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Capability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
  • Commitment to the core values of the University.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
