Under the general guidance of the District Operations Manager, the Logistics Operations Supervisor (LOS) is accountable for the effective daily management of the department, which includes leading a team of Yard Specialists and Operations Coordinators while overseeing the department's annual budget and operational strategy.

Collaborates closely with the Transportation Branch Manager to meet customer needs.
Environmental, Health & Safety Oversees the daily safe, efficient, legal, and economical operations associated with terminals and customer interactions.

Ensures adherence to corporate health, safety, and environmental policies, including the completion of all necessary training, documentation, and record-keeping.

Supports sales initiatives in alignment with corporate and regulatory compliance, health, safety, and environmental standards.
Implements and manages relevant health and safety programs.

Conducts prompt and thorough incident investigations, communicates root causes, and recommends corrective and preventive actions to the District Operations Manager.

Regularly updates upper management on performance metrics, including cost and productivity opportunities and industry-related trends.

Team Leadership Maintains a visible leadership presence throughout the branch; ensures daily pre-shift meetings are conducted and regularly communicates expectations to team members.

Manages daily work activities to ensure operational objectives are achieved.
Ensures all team members possess the necessary tools and training related to safety, operational standards, and departmental goals.
Fosters a positive work environment and encourages employee ownership of branch operations and performance.
Oversees the completion of drug testing and medical surveillance as required.
Leads the recruitment, training, and evaluation of personnel.
Branch Administration Develops email communications and correspondence with internal and external stakeholders.
Regularly participates in District Line of Business Meetings.
Prepares and presents comprehensive Branch Reviews to Leadership.
Sales Support/Customer Service Manages budget and operational strategy to meet branch objectives.

Responsible for fulfilling customer requirements and processing orders in a cost-effective manner while utilizing appropriate risk management and Standard Operating Procedures.

Quality Assurance Ensures adherence to company quality processes at the local level.
Collaborates with relevant departments, both internal and external, to resolve product quality issues efficiently and promptly.
Inventory Management Directs the inventory management process; investigates and resolves discrepancies with appropriate personnel as necessary.
Facility Maintenance Ensures proper maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness of owned/leased facilities.
Addresses facility maintenance issues with relevant personnel and reports safety concerns.
Maintains strict security and control over physical operations.
Process Improvement Implements initiatives aimed at enhancing operations.
Proactively identifies and leads process improvement projects.
Financial Responsibility Manages budget and operational strategy to achieve departmental objectives.
Supervisory Responsibility Direct supervision of Yard Specialists and Operations Coordinators.
Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Education/Experience/Training High School Diploma/GED required
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
5-7 years of experience in operations
Familiarity with governmental regulations related to the chemical industry; i.e., OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, etc. preferred or demonstrated ability to acquire such knowledge
Knowledge of chemical distribution facility operations preferred
Working knowledge of hazardous materials preferred
Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills Supervisory Leadership; proven ability to communicate with, support, and motivate employees to achieve operational objectives.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a team environment.
Analytical; ability to track, record, and report departmental metrics.
Process improvement initiatives.
High level of decision-making ability; balancing customer needs and company objectives.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a diverse and significant workload.
HazMat certification or Hazwoper Certification.
Ability to lead in emergency response situations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Excel and Word.
Basic understanding of ERP systems, SAP preferred.
