Key Responsibilities- Assist with Patient Care: Provide assistance with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
- Perform Various Medical Procedures: Assist with drawing blood, collecting specimens, taking vital signs, and performing other medical procedures as requested.
- Prepare for Procedures: Prepare patients and sterile trays for procedures such as suturing, applying casts, and performing pelvic exams.
- Recognize and Report Abnormalities: Recognize potentially life-threatening dysrhythmias and abnormal vital signs and report them to the RN or provider.
- Document Patient Care: Document patient care performed, including vital signs, and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain a Clean and Safe Environment: Clean equipment, maintain stock, and restock equipment and supplies as required to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Education and Experience: A general knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Previous experience as an Emergency Department Technician, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Assistant is preferred.
- Certifications: BCLS certification is required. One of the following certifications is also required: B-EMT, Graduate Medical Assistant from an accredited program, completion of a formal nursing education program to practice as an RN offshore, or completion of a formal medical doctor education program to practice as a medical doctor offshore.
Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital is a 32-bed department with 2 additional trauma rooms, serving as a Level 3 trauma center, certified for Stroke and STEMI. We see all types of patients, including pediatrics.
