At NorthBay Health, the Patient Services Representative (PSR) is responsible for a variety of essential front office tasks, including reception duties, patient registration, appointment management, insurance verification, and the handling of medical records. The PSR plays a crucial role as part of a clerical and customer service team dedicated to supporting the Ambulatory Division's medical practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Additional coursework in business or computer studies is advantageous, with medical terminology knowledge being a plus.
- Licensure/Certification: A current AHA or equivalent BLS certification is mandatory.
- Skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in customer engagement or service-oriented roles is required.
- Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in medical record management, appointment scheduling, and registration processes, is preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills are essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey information and engage in meaningful discussions.
- Proficient in managing multiple tasks efficiently and within designated timeframes.
- Preferred knowledge in the following areas:
- Understanding the distinct characteristics of various insurance types, including Medi-Cal, Medicare, Managed Care, Indemnity, and Workers Compensation.
- The significance of accuracy in the registration process for successful claims processing and patient care delivery.
- Demonstrated excellence in service, showcasing professionalism, customer focus, compassion, and strong listening skills.
- Consistent display of empathy, optimism, resourcefulness, and cultural competence in interactions.
- A proven ability to navigate the complexities and challenges inherent in the healthcare environment.
- Strong organizational capabilities.
- Bilingual skills are preferred.
Compensation:
The hourly salary range is $27.94, with the offered rate based on years of experience.
