Position Summary:
The Brooks provides short-term housing solutions for families experiencing homelessness. This facility comprises 50 units and adheres to a Housing First model, utilizing best practices to facilitate transitions from short-term family housing to independent living within 90 days. The Residential Aide is responsible for 24-hour on-site monitoring to ensure the safety and well-being of participants, staff, and visitors. This role involves collaborating with program staff to maintain service quality through regular inspections of the building and grounds, documenting and reporting any incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously monitor residents, units, and grounds to ensure security and safety.
- Oversee participants at the short-term family housing site and enforce program policies.
- Provide de-escalation services as needed to ensure the safety of all individuals.
- Assist in planning and organizing recreational activities for families.
- Report unusual incidents to the appropriate personnel or document them as necessary.
- Communicate observations to case management staff to support participant progress.
- Conduct weekly inspections of units as required.
- Distribute food during meal services and manage waste disposal.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience working with vulnerable families or youth.
- Familiarity with homeless shelters or residential facilities is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills and reliability are essential.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
- Demonstrated empathy in responding to participant needs.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and conflict-resolution techniques.
- Capacity to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Punctuality and ability to work independently are crucial.
- Proficiency in computer programs, including Excel and email.
- Strong commitment to the mission and core values of the organization.
Working Conditions:
This position involves a mix of office work and active monitoring of the facility and grounds. Candidates should be prepared for physical demands, including lifting up to 20 lbs and walking 70% of the time.
