Job Title: Support Service Aide

The Sisters of Charity Health System is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Support Service Aide to join our team. As a Support Service Aide, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks in accordance with standard procedures and facility standards.
  • Ensure all areas are clean and disinfected, including bathrooms, floors, and patient rooms.
  • Operate environmental services equipment and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Respond to codes red and orange and report any maintenance concerns to the appropriate channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Cleaning Procedures:
  • Ensure all damp wiping, bathroom cleaning, and floor disinfecting is done with an approved detergent disinfectant.
  • Empty trash and recyclables.
  • High dust all items above shoulder level, including TVs and vents.
  • Sanitize and damp wipe all patient contact surfaces.
  • Clean walls and restock supplies.
  • Dust and damp mop all floors.
  • Inspect work for completeness prior to moving onto the next assigned area.
Customer Service:
  • Follow the A.I.D.E.T. customer service model.
  • Actively engage patients, visitors, and staff regularly and appropriately.
  • Promptly and graciously respond to visitors and determine the urgency of each situation.
  • Refers requests up the chain of command when appropriate.
  • Handles difficult situations tactfully and professionally.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and fellow caregivers.
  • Checks area for safety violations and hazards.
  • Maintains confidentiality in employee/patient/customer-related issues.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Effective verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Able to read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Able to push/pull up to 50lbs and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand for six hours per day and walk 1 1/2 miles per day.
  • Able to scrub, refinish, and burnish floors; wash walls; terminal clean; between case cleaning.
  • Able to operate all environmental services equipment.
  • Working knowledge of all chemicals and equipment needed to perform floor care/cleaning.
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
