Job Summary

The Hospital Cleaning Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves cleaning patient rooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas, ensuring compliance with hospital standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, including changing bed linens, emptying trash, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, including replenishing supplies and disinfecting fixtures.
  • Clean and sanitize common areas such as waiting rooms, hallways, and elevators.
  • Follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of diseases.
  • Handle and dispose of waste, including hazardous materials, according to hospital policies.
  • Restock cleaning supplies and report inventory needs to the supervisor.
  • Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and carpet cleaners.
  • Assist with emergency clean-ups and spills as needed.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate department.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact with patients, staff, and visitors in a professional manner.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
